Electrical Engineering Curriculum

Transition to New Curriculum

Overview & Explanation

Effective with the Spring 2006 term, a curriculum change will be implemented for the 300-level courses in the microelectronics area. The content from ENEE 302-Digital Electronics and ENEE 312-Semiconductor Devices and Analog Electronics has been incorporated into a new course, ENEE 303-Analog and Digital Electronics(3sh). ENEE 303 will be a required course for both electrical and computer engineering majors.

In addition, ENEE 306-Electronic Circuit Design Laboratory has been revised into a new lab course, ENEE 307(2sh), also titled Electronics Circuits Design Laboratory. ENEE 303 and ENEE 307 must be taken concurrently. ENEE 307 is also a required course for both EE and CP majors. ENEE 204 is a prerequisite for both ENEE 303 and ENEE 307.

ENEE 313-Introduction to Device Physics(3sh) includes the device physics taken out of ENEE 312, which has been expanded upon. ENEE 313 will be a required course for electrical engineering major but not computer engineers. ENEE 204 is a prerequisite to ENEE 313. ENEE 312 will be offered in Fall 2006 for the final time.

 

Making the Transition

If you have satisfactorily completed ENEE 302 but have not yet completed ENEE 306, then you must enroll and successfully complete ENEE 306 during the Spring 2006 or Fall 2006 semester. Otherwise, you will have to take take the 303/307/313 sequence.

If you are unsuccessful in your first attempt at ENEE 302 and do not satisfactorily completed ENEE 302 prior to Spring 2006 then you should coming into the ECE Office of Undergraduate Studies to meet with an academic advisors for guidance on how to register for Spring 2006.

If you have already or will satisfactorily complete ENEE 302 prior to the Spring 2006 term but have not yet completed ENEE 312 then you must enroll in ENEE 312 during the Spring 2006, Summer 2006 or Fall 2006 term. ENEE 312 will not be offered after the Fall 2006.

You must satisfactorily complete ENEE 206 before you can enroll in ENEE 303, ENEE 307 or ENEE 313.
