Academic Programs
The Electrical and Computer Engineering department offers two undergraduate degree programs: B.S. in Electrical Engineering and B.S. in Computer Engineering. The undergraduate educational programs are supported by many state-of-the-art teaching laboratories, computer-assisted classrooms, a sophisticated and extensive network, and many research laboratories. In addition, there are numerous opportunities for undergraduates to be involved with cutting edge research.
At the graduate level, the department offers M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs in Electrical Engineering as well as a cross-disciplinary M.S. degree program in Telecommunications (taught jointly with the School of Business and the Department of Computer Science). Also, the department participates in a Professional Master of Engineering degree program.
The M.S. and Ph.D. Programs in Electrical Engineering are designed with a focus on
research. The research activities covered can be broadly categorized into Information
Sciences and Systems (Communications and Signal processing, Controls, and Computer
Engineering) and Electronic Sciences and Devices (Microelectronics and Electrophysics). These research programs are supported by extensive research funding (in 2004-2005, the Department's research expenditures exceeded $36 million) and numerous state-of-the-art research laboratories.
