    ICE student researchers Stephen Rochelle and Brent Talley explain how they enhanced the LEGO Mindstorm Robotics Invention System allowing for a visual approach to the analysis of embedded systems. Their project, "Modular Embedded Systems Software Design,"conducted under the guidance of Prof. David B. Stewart and Thomas Carley, was one of three to receive Honorable Mention in the MERIT Prize competition.   GPS Group    
   
   
    Wide Band Gap Group   PEER students Elizabeth Muzio and Natasha Reeves. Their project, "High Temperature Dielectircs for Wide Bandgap Power Devices," was conducted under the supervision of Prof. R. D. Vispute and Dr. S. Scozie. They were one of three teams to win the MERIT prize for outstanding research.    
   
   
    RITE students Eric Jones (left) and Yiu Au (right) received Honorable Mention in the MERIT Prize competition. Their project, "Location Aware Computing: Solving the E911 Wireless Mandate," was supervised by Prof. Ray Liu.   Power Consumption Group    
   
   
    Intrusion Detection Group   Hassan Chafi and Abraham Tarapani discuss details of their project - "Resourse Allocation for Wireless Networks" - with Prof. Bruce Jacobs and guest. Their project was supervised by Prof. Ephremides, Prof. Ulukus, and Tolga Girici. Chafi and Tarapani were one of three groups selected to receive the MERIT Prize for outstanding research.    
   
   
    Ryan Huber and Latise Parker explain details of their project "Integrating a Radio in CMOS Technology." The focus of Huber and Parker 's research was the design and implementation of a radio communications system with discrete components. The project supervisors were Prof. Ralph Etienne-Cummings and Prof. Timmer Horiuchi.   Huber and Paker    
   
   
    Network Security Group   RITE students Adrian Cottin and Timothy Merkin with their all-terrain robot that employs coordinates from the Global Positioning System as feedback for controling navigation. Their was project directed by Prof. Krishnaprasad along with Sean Anderson, Fumin Zhang, and Michael Goldgeier.    
   
   
    ICE student Brian Davis discusses aspects of his project - "Developing Memory System Support for Bzero and Bcopy Functions" - with a guest. His project was supervised by Prof. Bruce Jacob and David Wang.   Independent Threads Group    
   
   
    Optical Interconnect Group   ICE student Sandy Klemm presents the results of his research at the MERIT Fair. His project, "Communications and Control Theoretic Analysis of Dynamic Voltage Scaling," was supervised by Prof. Bruce Jacob and Ankush Varma. Mr. Klemm received one of the three MERIT Pirzes for outstanding research.    
   
   
    Bruk Berhane(PEER) received Honorable Mention in the MERIT Prize competition for his work on microelectromechanical systems. His project, "Design of MEMS-based Capacitive Microphone," was directed by Prof. Rez Ghodssi (UMCP), Dr. M. Dubey of the Army Research Laboratory, and Yinyin Zhao (UMCP).   Sonification Group    
   
   
    Crosstalk Group   Jennifer Roberts explains details of her investigation into auditory stream segregation in ferrets. Her project was part of the RITE program and conducted under the guidance of Prof. Shihab Shamma, Dr. Jonathan Fritz, and Dr. Sridhar Kalluri.
